Polyphosphazenes—A Promising Candidate for Drug Delivery, Bioimaging, and Tissue Engineering: A Review

Synthetic polymer materials have been surged to the forefront of research in fields tissue engineering, drug delivery, and biomonitoring recent years. Biodegradable synthetic polymers are increasingly needed as transient substrates for regeneration medicine delivery. In contrast commonly used including polyesters, polylactones, polyanhydrides, poly(propylene fumarates), polyorthoesters, polyurethanes, biodegradable polyphosphazenes (PPZs) hold great potential purposes indicated above. PPZ's versatility process has enabled production a variety with various physico-chemical, biological properties produced, making them appropriate biomedical applications. Biocompatible PPZs often scaffolds skeleton, bones, other tissues. also received special attention vehicles high-value biopharmaceuticals such anticancer drugs. Additionally, by incorporating fluorophores into PPZ backbone produce photoluminescent PPZs, utility is further expanded they tracking target well fate based or delivery vehicles.
